endless summer

You call it Spring; We call it endless Summer.

A day by ocean, from Torrey Pines to La Jolla from a few weeks ago. On Good Friday, G's class got canceled, so we took a day to soak up this California sun and reflect on what Jesus did for us. This abundant life is through Him alone.

That day, we decided to walk on a trail we've never tried before in Torrey Pines and it ended up being our favorite one yet. The next few pictures will explain... :)

I mean!!!

^^^ loved this torrey pine ^^^
<3 <3 <3
I can not get enough of this view!

From this trail to the beach trail...

after resting on the beach after our hike, we took a little drive to La Jolla for some food and the sunset.

The famed La Jolla Cove. Where people swim and stand feet away from dozens of sea lions.

We got a little show with these birds bullying each other on the rocks! I never knew they could be so territorial, but obviously, we know who won this one. Yikes! Cheers to a great beach day..

"well those trees are nice"

You know those instances where you hear about bad things happening to people, and you'd never think it could happen to you? Well a few days ago, one of those situations happened to us. At the start of our last minute road trip, we lost control of the car and in an instant everything changed. I was on the phone with Michelle when it happened, and now I laugh at how it must have been hearing me panic. She thought there was a bug in the car or something, and I wish that would've been the reason for the chaos. The car spun in circles as it slid off the ramp, hitting the guard rail and falling backwards into a ditch by the freeway.

Miraculously, made it out without a scratch. Not one.

God was so gracious to us in that moment, no scrapes or bruises or even soreness came from those scary seconds were we were not sure if we'd be ok. Our tow truck driver was the sweetest man who kept on talking to us throughout our drive home, reassuring us that things would be ok and giving us advice about what to do with the car. The car is gone. Sadly, because it was a good one, and we bought it from my aunt who took care of it so well before selling it to us. But material things are just that. Material. Replaceable. But  heath and life cannot be replaced.

Every day since the accident we've been so grateful. For family, friends and life. And you know what, we will get in a car one day and continue that road trip because we refuse to let this tear us down and leave us in fear. The one good memory of that Friday morning is that we visited Joshua Tree and it was so so amazing. Looking back, I cant believe we arrived and were so giddy taking photos and running around the desert only one hour before we crashed. But nevertheless I'm very thankful we got to visit a place that's been on my "go and see" list for so long.

FUNNY STORY: When entering the town, I was looking at my phone deleting pictures to make room for the trees and G, totally nonchalantly says, "well these trees are nice" and I look up to see dozens upon dozens of Joshua Trees on both sides of the car! He had no idea those were the trees! It was the funniest moment of the day and makes me smile every time I think about it.

So as a little keepsake from our trip cut short, here are a few photos I'll always cherish.. It was nothing like we expected or planned, but we are thankful nonetheless.

5:19 am faces.
all the laughs happened when I realized what car everyone was going around ahead of us! old big red, it was good to see you!
nearing Palm Springs when you see these ^^^
first sightings!
bliss.
I had no idea G was taking pictures at this moment, but I just love the expressions he captured.

"stop. moving. babe."

and then...
