for remembering

as we spring into summer

3/5
we woke up early on that Saturday morning to walk to one of our favorite places, Lincoln Park
G ran with other Moody students to support the A21 campaign in their "Run for Freedom"
I was pretty bummed we both failed to realize that this 5k was for this purpose before we go there because I would have loved to run
but I didn't - so while G ran, I explored the local farmers market and cheered him on as he crossed the finish line
on our walk home, we stopped by a new breakfast place a couple blocks away from us in Old Town
we were not impressed. hence, no pictures of the food or place. (we should've stuck with our current favorite, Yolk!)
later that evening we went to see Spiderman & I promise it was g's idea. (that face!)
as soon as we got home Saturday Night Live started featuring the "spidy" couple & they were great!

6/5
the tulips around the city were blooming & Iman was being the cutest!
7/5
 reached 90 degrees
& we remembered how much we love living here

9/5
we took célfies to a whole nother level

10/5
the day was too gorgeous
we were so excited to see so many people outside & by the lake shore again
another weekend of spring cleaning meant donating more books to our favorite local bookstore
we love you Open Books!

12/5
we went to the Lincoln Park Zoo
It was over 90 degrees & we were happy & sweaty
the farm was stinky.
and I was making it pretty clear I thought the smell was disgusting with some slight gestures...
g kept saying, "this is the smell of the earth! breath it in!"
I wasn't having it. Then he said, "you are such a city girl babe."
I took it as a compliment. :)

Even in the business of finishing school, preparing for our families to arrive for g's graduation (tomorrow!), and making plans for life after Moody - aiming to be in & enjoy the present has made the past few days has been so fun. I hope to practice being more present this spring and tradition it well into summer.

Thank you Lord for the reminder that new life in You usually comes after the hard winters we endure with You.
