hiking without water

It's still hard to believe that my mr. g has turned 30. It's a whole new decade for him, which has turned into a whole new era for us! G wanted to do something he's never done before to celebrate his 30th, and for now we're keeping what that is between us, but in preparation we're training for what will be a new experience we've both never done before. Part of it includes hiking, so we have been walking on new trails as often as we can to train for "the big one!" We both can't wait.

This hike was our most challenging so far! G had been eyeing this trail since we moved to SD over a year ago now because there's a huge bridge that's part of it that you can see from the freeway. Unfortunately, with the drought California has been in the past few years, all the water underneath has dried up. But it was still cool to see the bridge and imagine what it must have been like with a huge stream of water running under!

So with all our gear in our new huge backpacks, we walked up and down a rocky trail and up a mountain! It was awesome and tiring and challenging, but we did it! To be honest, I'm quite nervous for the big trip we're planning, but if our training doesn't prepare us, I don't see what else will! Here's a few photos from the day...

^^^ I love how G almost blends in with this picture ^^^
You know things are getting serious when it's time to put up the hair! G thought it was something worth capturing ;)

Happy, tired...headed home.
